Early life

Ernest William Taylor was born on 20 February 1869 in Newcastle upon Tyne.

Rugby union career

Taylor, nicknamed Little Billie, made his international debut on 6 February 1892 at Whalley Range, Manchester in the England vs Ireland match. Of the 14 matches he played for his national side he was on the winning side on 7 occasions. He played his final match for England on 4 February 1899 at Lansdowne Road in the Ireland vs England match.
