Eric Catchpole is a character in the British television series Lovejoy adapted from the novels by Jonathan Gash. He was played by actor Chris Jury.

The son of a local butcher and initially Lovejoy's paying trainee, he quickly becomes Lovejoy's younger, enthusiastic but ever so slightly dim assistant often acting as a general dogsbody. He rides a motorbike, wears a creole earring in his left ear and listens to heavy metal music and has a Suffolk accent. In the episode entitled Montezuma's Revenge his earring appeared briefly in his right ear.

Eric is particularly proud of his working class status. Eric is down to earth, quick witted and cynical. In the sixth episode of series five, he leaves to live in Essex to run his Uncle Jack's pub but returns for the final episode "Last Tango in Lavenham". He also played left half for Brentford.(Going straight 1978)
