Emmy Wasirwa was born December 20, 1972 in Uganda. He is a highly talented Biomedical Engineer, Medical Practitioner, Public Health Specialist and an entrepreneur with profound experience in a wide variety of duties related to the conduct and the analysis of data from clinical research studies involving Stem cell research and smart materials of hydrogels nature hydrogels. Prior to graduating in 2009 from QMUL, Emmy was a research assistant at TUe in the Netherlands where he researched the mechanotransduction of osteocytes under the supervision of Dr. Nico Sommerdijk and Mathij Vos. This research area equipped Emmy with a skill of using equipments such as the Transmission Electron Microscope, the Scanning Electron Microscope and the vitrobot equipment used for vitrification of cells prior to being scanned in the mentioned Microscopes above. In 2008 as an entrepreneur, Emmy innovated the distribution and installations of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in Uganda where he is thought to have invested in well over $200,000 of his own hard earned cash. Emmy says that he commenced this business because more than 90% of Ugandans’ use fuelwood as a source of energy for cooking and this had advance effects on women and children in terms of in door air pollution. Women and girl child are emmy's priority because they are the ones who are tasked with the collection of the tradition energy sources. It is anticipated that about 50% of Uganda's forest will be extinct if the current trend of cooking methods are not checked by 2050. Dr Emmy Wasirwa, the chairperson of the Uganda Liquefied Petroleum Gas Association and proprietor of Wana Solutions, the only Ugandan-owned gas supplier out of the 13 in the market, his efforts have seen the industry grow to 13 companies in just under five years. Emmy's desire to promote LPG in Uganda has helped the introduce to establish safety standards, policy and a regulatory framework of the industry.
