Emmering is a community in the Upper Bavarian district of Ebersberg. It is a member of the administrative community (Verwaltungsgemeinschaft) of Aßling.

Geography

Emmering lies in the Munich region. It includes one traditional rural land unit – Gemarkung in German – also called Emmering.

History

Emmering belonged to the Rentamt of Munich and the Court of Swabia of the Electorate of Bavaria. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, the current community came into being with the community edict of 1818.

Population development

The community’s land area was home to 1,219 inhabitants in 1970, 1205 in 1987 and 1,291 in 2000.

Politics

The community’s mayor (Bürgermeister) is Pankraz Spötzl (FW).

The community’s tax revenue in 1999, converted into euros, was €437,000, of which €30,000 was from business taxes.

Emmering’s arms might heraldically be described thus: In argent a chevron gules, above which two slanted hart’s antlers gules.

Economy and infrastructure

In 1998, the field of industry employed 59 workers on the social insurance contribution rolls. In trade and transport it was none. There were ten in other fields. Also, 442 people on the aforesaid rolls worked from their homes. There were no processing businesses. There were four businesses in contracting. Furthermore, in 1999, there were 74 agricultural businesses with a total productive land area of 1 374 ha, of which 1 042 ha was meadowland.
