How to move forward while living in fear emily muller tedxyouth lakevilla

Emily Muller (born 4 April 1999) is a disability rights activist from Chicago, IL. Her focus revolves largely around psychosocial issues that impact seriously ill children and young adults, legislation that affects rare disease patients, and disability representation in the media. She began her activism at the age of thirteen after being diagnosed with the rare disorder Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and creating Emily's Fight, a website and blog that started as an awareness website but grew into an "international campaign." She has spoken at events such as the SHINE conference, Starlight Midwest Gala, Nikki Rich premiere, and given a TEDx Talk.

In 2016, after lobbying Congress for several years, Muller became a prominent political activist in the #CuresNow movement. Along with friend Shira Strongin, she spent her summer vacation "urging the passage" of the Cures Act and hosting two Cyber Rallies in support of the bill. When the 21st Century Cures Initiative passed the Senate in 2016 Muller was recognized by the United States House Committee on Energy and Commerce for her work.
