El Remate is a small tourism based town located on the lakeshore of Lake Petén Itzá in Petén, Guatemala. The village has small eco-friendly hotels, small artesanal workshops and offers visitors a visit to the lake. It is located on the eastern part of the lake, where the lake ends could be the best translation of what El Remate, means in Spanish. The town is visited by many busses, as it is 2 km away from the road that takes you to Melchor de Mencos, and its on the path to Tikal if you are coming from Flores, Guatemala City, or the airport.
