Ekkehard Tichy (26 August 1922 – 16 August 1944) was a German Luftwaffe ace and recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross during World War II. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Ekkehard Tichy was killed on 16 August 1944 after ramming a B-17 with his Fw 190 over Hannoversch Munden, Germany. He was posthumously awarded the Knights Cross on 14 January 1945 and promoted to Hauptmann. During his career he was credited with 25 victories 13 on the Eastern Front and 12 on the Western Front.
