Eivor is a female given name originating from the Old Norse word auja, meaning "treasure/gift" or maybe ey-, meaning "island" and -varr meaning "careful", or the Proto-Norse word *warjaR, meaning "defending". The Old Norse form of the name was Eyvǫr. The name is most widespread in Norway, and minor used in the rest of the Nordic region.
