Edward Darmos

Edward Darmos is a British polymath of English and Portuguese descent, noted for his work in the emergent science of synthetic somatology.

He has completed doctoral degrees in Oxford and Paris, and worked for a number of biotechnology and research organizations, including Cavendish Biochemical and Gemini Somatics, where he is executive director of synthetic somatology.

Dr Darmos has described synthetic somatology as, "a process by which we could one day grow adult humans from scratch, having designed everything about them – physical and mental aptitudes, resistance to disease, that sort of thing."

Further research interests include Hawking radiation, cognitive psychology and artificial genome construction and engineering.
