Edward Barnes (fl. c.1760–1795) was a Denbighshire born poet, translator, and schoolmaster. In 'Geiriadur Bywgraffyddol o Enwogion Cymru', Josiah Thomas Jones notes that he converted to Methodism, and lived for many years in Montgomeryshire.

His published works include carols (included in William Hope's 1765 collection 'Cyfaill i'r Cymro'), and translations such as, 'A specimen of select pieces of the poems of Rees Prichard … Dictionary—like in Welch and English' (c. 1795) and, 'James Hervey's Meditations' (1785).
