'Eamonn O'Reilly is an Irish chef and restaurateur.

Restaurateur and Owner of One Pico Restaurant and One Michelin Star Restaurant The Greenhouse. Awarded R.A.I Best Irish Chef 2006, Irish Restaurant Awards Best Chef (Dublin) 2010 and Georgina Campbell Guide Chef of The Year 2010. His restaurant One Pico was awarded Villeroy & Boch Restaurant of the Year 2003, Food & Wine Magazine Best Restaurant (Dublin) 2010 and Hotel & Catering Review Gold Medal Award (Fine Dining) 2010. His most recent restaurant The Greenhouse was awarded Restaurant of the Year 2012, 2013, 2015, and was awarded One Michelin Star in the 2016 Michelin Guide, Great Britain and Ireland.

Background

Eamonn O'Reilly is from Killiney and was born in Dublin into a family of chefs and was passionate about cooking from a young age.

Educated at Marian College (Dublin), in 1984 he began his training with his father at Dublin's foremost five star Hotel of its time and in 1989 became the opening Pastry Chef at the new Hotel Conrad Dublin.

Then aged 21 he moved and became Restaurant Chef at The Westbury Hotel Dublin, which included spending time at the Ritz-Carlton Dearborn,The Sheraton Hotel Casablanca and The Hotel Meurice, Rue de la Rivoli, Paris after which time aged 24 he landed a position as Executive Chef for a boutique hotel group for two years. In 1997 aged 26 he won the Egon Ronay Newcomer of the Year Award and became Chef Patron at his first restaurant One Pico located in Camden Street, 2001 saw him move One Pico to a larger premises on Molesworth Place located just off St. Stephens Green Dublin 2.

In 2002 he purchased the restaurant Belgo Sycamore St Dublin from the London-based restaurant group Signature Restaurants and opened a new 200 seat restaurant called Pacific which won Hotel & Catering Review Best casual Restaurant. He sold it the following year and said because of its size it was more suited to London than Dublin. In 2003 after selling Pacific he immediately opened another restaurant on Dawson Street called Bleu Bistro which soon after opening won Restaurant Oscars Best New Restaurant 2003. In 2006 the Restaurant association of Ireland awarded him Best Irish Chef.

In 2010 Georgina Campbell Guide awarded Eamonn O'Reilly Chef of The Year and One Pico was also awarded Food & Wine Magazine Best Dublin Restaurant. In the middle of the Irish recession he opened The Box Tree Restaurant and Wild Boar Pub in Stepaside. The Box Tree Restaurant was awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand for 2012 and 2013. After this time despite the huge success he decided to sell The Box Tree Restaurant to an Investor Group to concentrate his efforts on his new restaurant The Greenhouse with Mickael Viljanen as Chef, which in spite of many peoples belief that it would never work, opened April 2012 to huge publicity from guests, critics and media alike as the most exciting restaurant to open in Dublin in recent years. In 2016 the Michelin guide Great Britain & Ireland awarded The Greenhouse One Michelin Star.
