The Edward Kennedy 'Duke' Ellington House is where Duke Ellington, the noted African American composer and jazz pianist, resided from 1939 through 1961, in Apartment #4A. The apartment building was built in 1915 in the Late Gothic Revival style.
The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places as a National Historic Landmark in 1976.
