Dorothy Adkins


Dorothy Adkins (1912–1975) was a psychologist concentrating on Psychometrics. She was the first and only female department chair in the Psychology Department at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Early life

Adkins grew up in Atlanta, a town in Pickaway County, Ohio. Her father was both a business man and a farmer; her mother was a school teacher.

Her papers are held by the Archives of the History of American Psychology at The University of Akron.
