DOC NYC is an annual documentary film festival in New York City. Co-founded by Thom Powers and his wife Raphaela Neihausen, the festival is the country's largest documentary film festival with over 250 films and events and 200 special guests. The festival takes place over eight days in November at the West Village's IFC Center and Chelsea's Cinepolis and SVA Theater

Between 2014 – 2016, nine DOC NYC titles were included on the Oscar® Short List, including all the winners and more than half of the nominees. DOC NYC is also an Academy-qualifying festival for short films. DOC NYC’s winning short will qualify for consideration in the Documentary Short Subject category of the Annual Academy Awards® without the standard theatrical run, provided the film otherwise complies with the Academy rules.

In 2015, Doc NYC welcomed presidential nominee candidate Hillary Clinton for a special appearance at the festival's closing night presentation of Once and For All, and film that explored women's rights.
