Discovery People was an American cable television network.

The channel launched in March 1997 by CBS. The channel was called CBS Eye on People and featured news and human interest stories from CBS News.

The channel suffered significant losses, and in mid-1998, it was announced that Discovery Communications would buy 50 percent of the channel.

On January 11, 1999, the network was renamed Discovery People, following Discovery's complete takeover.

Discovery Communications eventually ended up using Discovery People's distribution for other networks. For DirecTV customers, the channel was replaced by Discovery Health on December 1, 1999. In February 2000, Discovery announced that they intended to pull the plug on the channel. Discovery People was quietly shut down later on.

Availability

Discovery People could be seen on channel 117 via Dish Network. The channel still appeared on the April 23, 2000 Dish Network channel lineup archive at http://www.dishuser.org/Dishlist%20archive%204-23-00.htm.
DirecTV carried the channel on channel 313 until it has been replaced with Discovery Health on December 1, 1999.
