Devinda Subasinghe

Devinda R. Subasinghe is a Sri Lankan economist and diplomat. He was the Sri Lankan Ambassador to the United States and Mexico and Permanent Observer to the Organization of American States ( OAS) from 2002-2005 as well as the Founder/Managing Partner Ambassadors Group, LLC,

Educated at the Royal College, Colombo, Subasinghe was a national and regional champion in swimming. After briefly studying law at the Colombo Law College he attended Indiana University and graduated with a BA in Economics and Political Science and thereafter gained a MA in International Economics from the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University.

As an economist he worked in the J. R. Jayawardene's administration in the ministries of foreign and finance. Moving on to the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation he served in for 11 years in Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe advising on economic reform; industrial, trade, agricultural and environmental restructuring; private sector development; and foreign direct investment issues. He was Founder and CEO of Asia Insight 21 which specialized in consulting governments and corporations on trade and investment matters. From 2002 to 2005 he served as Sri Lankan Ambassador to the United States and Mexico.
