A designation card is a multi-page card which must carried be carried by all PCSOs and designated persons at all times in England and Wales. In accordance with the Police Reform Act 2002, both a designation card and a photographic identification card must be produced on request where the person is exercising any of their legal powers. Failure to produce their designation card on request when exercising one or more of these powers will mean that the person will not be acting within the course of their duty. A designation card lists all the legal powers that the person has been granted including all standards PCSO powers in the case of a PCSO.
