Delmadinone acetate (INN, USAN, BAN) (brand names Delmate, Estrex, Tardak, Tardastren, Tardastrex, Vetadinon, Zenadrex), sometimes abbreviated as DMA, and also known as 1,6-bisdehydro-6-chloro-17α-acetoxyprogesterone, is a steroidal progestin with antigonadotropic (and hence, antiandrogenic and antiestrogenic) properties which is used to treat androgen-associated conditions in veterinary medicine. It must be used with care as it has the potential to cause adrenal insufficiency via inhibition of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) secretion from the pituitary gland.
