Delfinen-class submarine

The Delfinen class submarines were the last class of submarines of the Royal Danish Navy designed and built entirely by Danish architects. The first three boats of the class were financed by Denmark. The fourth was financed by the United States (where it was known as SS-554) under the Cost Share program.

Ships

  • Delfinen, launched 4 May 1956, commissioned 1 August 1961, decommissioned 2 August 1983, sold for scrapping 11 September 1984.
  • Spækhuggeren, launched 20 February 1957, commissioned 1 August 1961, decommissioned 31 July 1989, sold for scrapping, 3 December 1991.
  • Tumleren, launched 22 May 1958, commissioned 1 August 1961, decommissioned 6 August 1981, sold for scrapping 7 September 1982.
  • Springeren, launched 22 April 1963, commissioned 22 October 1964, decommissioned 31 March 1990 and handed over to the Naval Museum in Aalborg.
