Deepti Divakar is an Indian model and winner of Miss India in 1981.

Early life and career

She was born in Bangalore. Her grandfather, Dr R.R. Diwakar was India's first Information and Broadcasting minister and Governor of Bihar. She studied interior design at Parsons School of Design, New York and University of California, Los Angeles. She has a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Bangalore University and a Master of Arts degree in Radio-Television, from San Francisco State University. She is an exponent of classical Indian dance, Bharatha natyam and has performed in India, Europe and the United States and awarded a national award "Bharatha natyam Maharathnam" from World Development Parliament of West Bengal. She also won the President's Award for Literary Excellence, from National Authors' Registry of Michigan. She is an author of two books and is listed in Who's Who in the World, Marquis Publishers, New Jersey, 2014.Deepti Diwakar (also spelt Divakar) acted in the lead role in a regional Indian feature film called 'Simhasana' in Kannada and in a Greek film in Athens, Greece, called 'Expotheriko'.She was featured in a cover story of 'Eikones' magazine, in Athens, Greece, dancing at the Parthenon.She acted in a Broadway show called 'Bombay to Broadway', in New York City, 1993, and was a Master of Ceremonies. Deepti Diwakar also published nearly 60 articles of hers in The Times of India, India. AS a college student, in Bangalore, she won the JRD Tata National English Debating shield.
