Deen Mohammad Shaikh was born in 1942 in a Hindu family and converted to Islam in 1989. After his conversion to Islam, he became a Muslim missionary to Hindus of Sindh province. Deen Mohammad Shaikh's mission has converted over 110,000 Hindus to Islam. Deen Mohammad Shaikh is the President of the local mosque Jamia Masjid Allah Wali and Madrassa Aisha Taleem-ul Quran, an institute for conversions to Islam. Deen alleges that he was kidnapped along with his daughter-in-law by influential local Hindu leaders who threatened him so that he would stop converting people. Many of the new converted Muslims have moved from Matli and settled Hub Chowki near Karachi due to the hostility of their relatives and friends.

Deen was interested in Islam since he was 15 years old. Deen's mother was concerned about his fascination with Islam so she decided to marry him off to divert his attention. Deen converted to Islam in 1989 along with his family. The success of his missionary zeal had strong reaction in the local Hindu community.
