Dean Morgan (ディーンモルガン株式会社, Dīn Morugan Kabushiki Gaisha) is a chain of eikaiwa (English conversation) and French conversation schools in Japan.

The company was founded in 2004, and is currently headquartered in Shinjuku, Tokyo. There are ten schools under three brands. Dean Morgan brand has three schools in Tokyo. The founder, current president and CEO is Dean Rogers. The company provides language lessons on a "one-to-one" (one student and one teacher) basis using textbook lessons and online instructor aids. Dean Morgan describes itself as a "man-to-man eikaiwa".

Company name

Originally, there were two founders: Dean Rogers (American) and Morgan Terigi (French). They decided to combine their first names to form the name of the school. The school was originally called Dean Morgan Academy, in 2007, the name was officially shortened to Dean Morgan.

Founding and history

The company was founded in April 2004, and the first school was opened on July 14, 2004. In 2005, Dean Rogers became the sole owner. The first school was opened in Nishi-Shinjuku, offering English and French lessons.

In September 2006, the Sala school brand was acquired and absorbed in Dean Morgan, providing one-to-one and group lessons at two locations in Umeda and Namba, in Osaka. The Senrioka school was founded around this time.

In 2008, the Hummingbird Pronunciation school brand was acquired and integrated into Dean Morgan. Hummingbird Pronunciation is a patented English pronunciation method. English, French, and Hummingbird Pronunciation lessons are taught in all Dean Morgan and Sala branches.

In April 2011, a third school opened in Ginza, Tokyo.

In March 2012, the Ikebukuro branch was opened in Tokyo.

As of April 2012, there are a total of ten schools located in Tokyo and Osaka, with nearly 2,000 students.

School locations

The head office is located in Nishi-Shinjuku. Hummingbird Pronunciation lessons are taught at another school, also situated in Nishi-Shinjuku. The Ginza and Ikebukuro schools both offer English, French, English pronunciation and French pronunciation lessons.

In Osaka, there are six schools, located in the Umeda, Namba, Honmachi, Senrioka, Awaji, and Kamishinjo districts. The Nakamozu school became independent in October 2011.
