Establishment

La Salle accepted its first students in September 1966 and there were initially around 275 students. The head of the school at the time was Brother Cornelius.

La Salle Secondary School as it was known for many years later became known as La Salle Boys' School.

The school continued to operate on its Edenmore Drive site whilst also using the old Cross and Passion site on the Glen Road. The Junior School (Years 8-10) used the Glen Road site for almost 25 years from the late 1980s before moving to one site at Edenmore Drive, following the completion of a new building. The old buildings were suffering from severe dilapidation after standing for almost 40 years, however in 2009 the construction was completed of the new build. At this time under new leadership, the school became known as De La Salle College. The school's current enrollment is around 1,100.

The college also serves as an Entertainment Venue and Multi-sports venue in after-school hours.
