It was named by the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee in 1995 after Crispin Mark Jeremy Day (born 1960), a long-serving British Antarctic Survey (BAS) General Field Assistant. He was at Rothera Station, 1986–89, 1991–92, 1993–94; and a member of the BAS field party in the James Ross Island area from 1994–95.
