Threadneedle Prize finalist David Storey (born 2 August 1954, Workington, Cumbria, England) is a British figurative painter. His psychologically charged paintings are about memory, with half-remembered people and places emerging from complex layers of texture and colour.

Biography
David Storey spent his childhood in the dramatic landscape of the English Lake District before going on to study art at London's Hornsey College of Art (now Middlesex University). On graduation he joined Sir Elton John's record label, The Rocket Record Company, as a cover artist (1977 – 79).
Storey then moved to Chrysalis Records (1979–1984) first as a designer and later as art director. His best known work from this period is the bold, innovative and influential designs he produced for the 2-Tone record label (a subsidiary of Chrysalis).
David Storey was a founding member of the innovative and highly successful The Bureaux (1985 – 89). This landmark collective of 20 artists and designers worked from a warehouse in London's Clerkenwell district. Since then his work has been exhibited in numerous group and solo exhibitions including shows at: Panter and Hall, London (2015); ArtHamptons, New York (2014); AAF Hamburg (2014); The Mall Galleries; and The Brighton Museum and Art Gallery. In 2012 David was a Threadneedle Prize finalist.
