David Silver is the main programmer on the Go team at DeepMind.
He achieved top marks in computer science at Cambridge University, where he met and befriended Demis Hassabis, who taught him how to play many board games, including Go. He cofounded the video game company Elixir Studios in 1998, where he was CTO and lead programmer. He returned to academia in 2004 to study for a PhD on reinforcement learning under Richard S. Sutton and Martin Müller at the University of Alberta.
He joined Google DeepMind in 2013.
He has an h-index of 25.
