David Pickvance is a British–Australian composer working in film, radio and television.

Pickvance composed and produced four instrumental CDs that were released throughout Australasia and western Europe. Two titles, Tempest and River King, won the BASF Music Award in 1994 and 1996.

In 1996 he started composing for theatre, television and film. In 2001 he relocated to London and composed for the BBC, HiT Entertainment, BFI and Disney Channel. In 2005 he was awarded the BBC Composer-In-Residence position. High-profile productions include The City Speaks, Richard III, The Birds, Where The Wild Things Are, I, Claudius and Peter Pan in Scarlet.

In 2007, Pickvance created the Creative Sound course for the Tate Modern in London.

Since 2008 he has been commissioned by HIT Entertainment to compose the music for series 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 & 11 and the 4 feature films of the classic kids TV series Fireman Sam.
