David Andrew Barclay Miller is the W. M. Keck Foundation Professor of Electrical Engineering at Stanford University, where he is also a Professor of Applied Physics by courtesy. He is a fellow of the Optical Society of America, the American Physical Society, and IEEE.

David A. B. Miller was born on February 19, 1954 in Hamilton in the United Kingdom. After receiving high school education at Perth Academy, he continued his education at St. Andrew's University where he received a B. Sc. in 1976. In 1979, he received a Ph.D. in Physics from Heriot-Watt University for research about nonlinear optical effects.

After receiving his Ph.D, he initially continued to work at Heriot-Watt University where he eventually became a lecturer at the physics department. In 1981, he accepted a position at Bell Labs. Since 1997, he is a professor at Stanford University, where he performs research about optics and optoelectronics.
