Dave Derby is an American songwriter, producer, composer of music for film and television and designer. He was a founding member of the Dambuilders, Brilliantine, and Gramercy Arms. Derby has also released solo records and played bass in Lloyd Cole's band The Negatives.

Derby composes and produces music for film and TV. He founded the music production company Derby and Kotch with Michael Kotch in 2000.

His new band, Gramercy Arms, released "The Seasons of Love" in August 2014 on Reveal Records. The album has received accolades in the press in the US and UK. The Daily Mail gave it 5/5 stars and heralded it as "one of those glittering, minor pop gems critics and fans will be "rediscovering" in a few years' time..."

The Wall Street Journal said ""The Seasons of Love" is Mr. Derby's testimony to the kind of clever rock and pop that prizes craft, structure and arrangement without sacrificing joy."

Gramercy Arms is a revolving collective of mostly New York based musicians and artists. Derby is main songwriter/producer. Members include Sean Eden (Luna, Elk City), Kevin March (the Dambuilders, Guided by Voices, Shudder to Think), Rainy Orteca (Joan as Police Woman), Kendall Meade (Mascott, Sparklehorse), Lloyd Cole, Joan Wasser (Joan as Police Woman), Tanya Donelly (Belly, Throwing Muses), Mathew Caws (Nada Surf), Doug Gillard (Guided by Voices, Nada Surf, Death of Samantha, Cobra Verde), Kay Hanley (Letters to Cleo), Erin Moran (A Girl Called Eddy), Renee Lo Bue (Elk City) and others. The album was recorded by Derby along with Ray Ketchem (Elk City) and mixed by Thom Monahan.

The band created a video for the single "Beautiful Disguise" which features Lloyd Cole and Joan Wasser on lead vocals. The video was directed by Tryan George.

In addition to his work as a musician, Derby is also User Experience Strategist and Designer.
