Darktrace is a British cyber security company established in 2013 in Cambridge. It maintains main offices in Cambridge and San Francisco. Investors in the firm include Michael Richard Lynch's Invoke Capital, Talis Capital, Hoxton Ventures, KKR and Summit Partners. In addition to defenses against human-driven cyber-attacks, the firm uses artificial intelligence systems to prevent penetrations by other automated systems.
Darktrace's board is composed of partners from Invoke Capital, all of whom previously worked at HP Autonomy. The company's CEO, Nicole Eagan, was previously Autonomy's chief marketing officer.
The company claims, but does not name, one thousand customer deployments. Press reports indicate the firm provides security service to various British rail networks including Virgin Trains.
The company reportedly has hired many computer security experts away from the British government.
