Dark pop

Dark pop is a music genre consisting of melodic pop vocals mixed with dark wave instrumental. Dark pop usually features heavy use of the synthesizer, which is generally heard in industrial and gothic rock. Dark pop compositions also feature hip hop and techno drums, and a sub bass sound. In recent years, the term has been used by bands such as The Neighbourhood and the Bloom Twins who have coined their music genres as dark pop in 2014.
