Primal Singing in Action - How To Access Your Inner Vocal Power


Dane Chalfin is a UK-based contemporary vocal coach working in music, theatre and television. His clients include many charting artists and West End and touring shows. He is Associate Professor of Vocal Coaching and Rehabilitation at Leeds College of Music. He is most notable for his research into Primal Sound and Primal Voice in Rock, Pop and Theatre Singing and its application to endoscopic assessment of singers with voice trouble.

In 2010 Dane became the first ever contemporary vocal coach granted a permanent contract with the National Health Service as Vocal Rehabilitation Coach at University Hospital South Manchester. His research into the vocal physiology of CCM singing styles and assessing, diagnosing and rehabilitating injured pop, rock and theatre singers has been presented internationally at conferences including PEVOC.

Dane was the president of the British Voice Association for 2015. He contributed to TC-Helicon's "Ultimate Guide to Singing", Bloomsbury's "The Singer-Songwriter Handbook," and the 2nd edition of the seminal "Voice Clinic Handbook" from Compton Publishing. Dane is also a regular contributor to their online magazine www.voicecouncil.com. His research areas include primal sound, rehabilitating singers with voice disorders and safe extreme voicing.
