Damarla Chennapa Nayakadu was a Telugu ruler of Padma Nayaka of Srikalahasti and Vandavasi who served as a general. The city of Chennai is named after him. The line of Nayakas were chieftains during the Vijayanagar empire and attained full power after its decline.
