Dahlberg is a locational or ornamental Swedish surname based on the location where the original name's bearers lived. Translated directly from Swedish to English means Dal meaning "Valley" and berg meaning "Mountain".
The Dahlberg Coat of Arms, or sigil, is split into seven sections. There are crowned lions holding downward facing arrows located in the upper left and lower right quadrants. The user center quadrant has two crossed cannons. The upper right and lower left quadrants have a chevron with two stars above and one star below. The center quadrant has three mountains with three crowns above. The lower center quadrant has a fortification with two banners. There are several examples of sigils that are attributed to the name Dahlberg, however the one mentioned above is the only currently verified Swedish Dahlberg sigil. It is displayed at the base of Erik Dahlberg's self-portrait.
The Dahlberg Family Moto is displayed on the frame encircling Erik Dahlberg's self-portrait in Latin, "NIHIL TAM ALTE NATURA CONTI TUIT QUO VIRTUS NON POTEST ENITI." The Moto translated to English states, "The nature of the land made no such affection in which virtue can not exert."
