Da Mao the Giant Panda (now at Toronto Zoo) was born at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding (the most successful panda breeding facility in China) on September 1, 2008 (Year of the Rat). Da Mao's Mother was Fu Wa (also called as Mao Mao) and his father was Xiongbing. The name Da Mao means "first of Mao" because he was his mother's first born. Da Mao's character trait include being lively, tender and quite a gentleman.
