Dāmodara Bhaṭṭa was a Sanskrit scholar and author of the Yantracintmaṇi. He lived in north India during the second half of the sixteenth century. The Yantracintāmani, also called the Kalpacintāmaṇi, is a text that deals with the use of yantra-s in the performance of magical rites (abhicāra). The significance of Dāmodara's text can be judged from the fact that vernacular manuals on the subject are based on his text rather than any other. The work was first studied by Jean Marquès-Rivière and translated into French in 1939. A more recent and detailed account has been provided by Hans-Georg Türstig. Gudrun Bühneman briefly summarised the text in her study of yantra-s and maṇḍala-s.
