Development

Cul was originally a mascot of VOCALO Revolution a Vocaloid related TV program that aired in Japan in January 2011. She originally used the vocal of Vocaloid 2 vocal VY1 to "sing".

On June 8, 2011, Yamaha announced that CUL would become a real Vocaloid, with Eri Kitamura for her voice samples. The publisher was to be Internet Co., Ltd. Noboru mentioned that Cul was a hard vocal to produce as when synthesized she gave a result that was under quality. Noboru mentioned they had to scrap her original vocal and rebuild it from scratch. They had to re-build the vocal twice, though no re-recordings were involved.

In July 2013, Internet co.,Ltd announced a Mac update of this product for the Vocaloid Neo engine.

Characteristics

Originally, CUL was released without background information. However, the information was posted for her in 2013 when she was featured in a special event.

Video Game

Cul appeared in an iOS game called "Vocadol" along with Vocals Anon & Kanon, Lily, Aoki Lapis, Merli, VY1 and Kokone.
