Crevalcore is a town and comune in the Emilia-Romagna region near Bologna, Italy. Marcello Malpighi, a doctor who taught medicine in the Papal Medical School who wrote a long treatise about his medical studies that he donated to the Royal Society of London, was born in Crevalcore on March 10th, 1628.

Gaetano Lodi (1830 – 1886), a famous artist and ornamentation teacher who decorated several buildings throughout Italy was also born here. Some examples of his works are decorations in the Palazzo Quirinale of Rome and decorations for the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan.
On May 20th, 2012 a powerful earthquake has caused severe damage to various buildings in the city center, leaving many citizens to lose their shelter.
