The Crawford Street Bridge in Providence, Rhode Island was listed as the world's widest bridge in the 1988 Guinness Book of World Records. It was built in 1873 and rebuilt in 1930. The bridge was narrowed in 1982 according to a design by architect William Warner in order to expose the Providence River and create a more pedestrian-friendly cityscape.
