Coveris Advanced Coatings (formerly Exopack Advanced Coatings) is part of Coveris, owned by Sun Capital Partners, a private investment firm. History

The Matthews facility can be traced back to its establishment in 1963 as Riegel Paper, and the North Wales facility to 1968 as Brittains Riegel. In the 1970s the name was changed to Rexham UK The company was eventually acquired by Bowater who in turn changed their corporate name to Rexam.

In 2002, Sun Capital Partners acquired the Image Product Division from Rexam PLC, and named it "InteliCoat". The Matthews and North Wales facilities were the EEF (electronics and engineered film) division of InteliCoat. On August 6, 2007, the EEF division separated from InteliCoat to form Exopack Advanced Coatings, and became a division of Exopack LLC, which is also an affiliate of Sun Capital Partners.

In 2011, the company chose Guangzhou, China to open its distribution and converting facility, which enhance service and support for its distributors and manufacturing customers in the thriving region.

In 2013 the company introduced new brand: digital imaging (previously Intelicoat) to its product portfolio.

In 2013 it was announced that Exopack Holdings would merge with four other leading companies, including Britton Group, PACCOR, Kobusch, and Paragon Print & Packaging, to form a new company called COVERIS™.
