Concordia Subglacial Lake (74°6′S 125°9′E) is a subglacial lake located beneath an ice sheet 4,000 to 4,100 metres (13,100 to 13,500 ft) thick. It has a surface of about 900 square kilometres (350 sq mi) and is 250 metres (820 ft) deep. The surface of the water has an elevation from 800 to 950 metres (2,600 to 3,100 ft) below the sea level. It was first located in December 1999; the name derives from the nearby French-Italian Concordia Research Station.
