Community Medical Center is a hospital in Toms River, New Jersey. The original hospital, Community Memorial Hospital, was small with only 50 beds and 15 physicians, but was expanded in the 1980s with a five-level parking garage and a new four-story section of patient rooms. The hospital has been undergoing another expansion since 2004; when completed, the hospital will have the largest emergency department on the East Coast of the United States. Community Medical Center serves the entire northern Ocean County area.

Opened in 1961, Community Medical Center is the largest non-teaching hospital in the state of New Jersey. The hospital is Ocean County’s largest and most active healthcare facility, attending to 28,000 inpatients, 127,700 outpatients and 100,000 emergency room patients each year.

The hospital has approximately 2,800 associates, 650 physicians on staff, and 1,700 volunteers. Community Medical Center received its third Accreditation in 2002 from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.

The facility was ranked in the top 5% of hospitals nationwide.
