The Commodore 8280 were dual unit 8" floppy disk drives for Commodore International computers. They used a wide rectangular steel case form similar to that of the Commodore 4040, and used the parallel IEEE-488 interface common to Commodore PET/CBM computers.
The 8280 replaced the early 806x series 8" drives and switched to half-height drives. Like the 8061/62, the 8280 supports IBM 3740 disks in addition to its native 500k GCR format and does not have support in the drive ROM for formatting disks or verifying them; these features were provided on a utility disk which also contained a disk copy utility for 3740 disks.
