The Office of the Commissioner of Lobbying of Canada is an officer of the Parliament of Canada established in July 2008 by the Lobbying Act to support the Commissioner of Lobbying. Appointed by both the Houses of Parliament for a term of seven years, the current Commissioner of Lobbying is Karen E. Shepherd, since June 30, 2009. The Commissioner's mandate is responsible for:

  • maintaining the Registry of Lobbyists
  • developing and implementing educational programs to create public awareness of the requirements of the Lobbying Act
  • conducting reviews and investigations to ensure compliance with the Act and the Lobbyists' Code of Conduct
  • The Office of the Commissioner of Lobbying of Canada replaced the Office of the Registrar of Lobbyists.
