Coetzee (/kʊtˈs/ kuut-SEE; [kutˈseə]) is an Afrikaans surname, derived from the Hungarian Kocsi, meaning "from Kocs", which gave its name to the coach in numerous European languages. The surname also originates from the French Couche, which itself originates from the Breton Coet.
