Clara Abraham Ashkenazi, otherwise known as Iskra (November 12, 1922 in Chirpan - September 3, 1944) was a participant in the resistance movement during World War II. She was a Bulgarian partisan of the Second Brigade Rhodope "Vasil Kolarov".

Clara Ashkenazi was a Bulgarian citizen of Jewish origin. Since 1938 she was an active member of the YCL and Young Workers' Union led group Chirpan. In 1941 she moved to Plovdiv becoming a member of BRP (k), she is given the task of party courier between Plovdiv and Chirpan.

Ashkenazi participated in the resistance movement during World War II. In the autumn of 1941 she was arrested. Despite the cruel torture to which he is exposed does confession and was released. Attracted in the composition of the District II Committee BRP (k) in Plovdiv. Because of the failure of the organization went underground and 2 April 1943 in partisan detachment "Raicho Kirkov" of Second Brigade Rhodope "Vasil Kolarov". Iskra guerrilla assumed name.

On September 3, 1944 Second part of the Rhodope Brigade "Vasil Kolarov" is Novakovski Balkan (Eastern Rhodopes) and entering the environment. Starts with nyakolkohilyadna unequal combat troops and gendarmes. Clara Ashkenazi and a further 16 partisans of the party breaking off and falling into an ambush. She died killed by a bomb near the village of Popovo (Iskra), Plovdiv district.

In 1950, the partisan name is adopted by the village of Iskra (former Popovo) in Parvomay municipality, Plovdiv district. The village was erected a memorial bust in his honor. The city Chirpan has street named Clara Ashkenazi.
