The name sweet lemon refers to a Citrus tree (Citrus medica var. dulcis) and its fruit. Dulcis is Latin for sweet, and it comes to identify a lemon or lime that is lacking acidity in its pulp and juice.
It is possibly the same as the cultivar known as Mediterranean sweet limetta. In Iran, the fruit is widely used and is called a “sweet lemon” (Persian: لیموشیرین). This fruit is often found being used in herbal medicine.
