Church of the Friendly Ghost aka COTFG is a volunteer-run arts organization supporting creative expression and counter-culture community. COTFG activities may include experiments in composition, custom made electronics, improvisation, cross-genre collaborations and site-specific performance.

COTFG was originally established in the fall of 2003 by a group of friends residing in an inactive old church on Pedernales St. in east Austin, Texas. Over the years the DIY organization has presented over one thousand events to date including concerts, art exhibitions, workshops, film screenings and other cultural events. In 2007, COTFG became a sponsored project of Salvage Vanguard Theater 501(c)(3)and re-located to a performance space on Manor Rd. For the past 10 years, COTFG has hosted a multi-disciplinary summer festival, New Media Art and Sound Summit aka NMASSfest which typically takes place in late June of each year. The COTFG series of performances are made possible by community patrons, and through a partnership with Salvage Vanguard Theater. This project is funded and supported in part by the City of Austin through the Cultural Arts Division.
