Genus Chrysocercops Rank Species | ||
Chrysocercops squamosa is a moth of the Gracillariidae family. It is known from Johor and Pahang, Malaysia.
The wingspan is 5-6.2 mm.
The larvae feed on Vatica pallida and Vatica pauciflora. They mine the leaves of their host plant. The mine starts as a linear gallery occurring on the lower surface of the leaves. Later, it changes into an interparenchymal blotch usually lying along the leaf-margin. The mining part of leaf is discoloured into brown, sometimes into dark brown in matured condition. Pupation takes place outside of the mine, and usually in a furrow of the breeding case. The cocoon is boat-shaped, ochre-whitish and covered by two to four minute bubbles.
