Chronic Bracing is the continuous tension of muscles resulting from a conscious or subconsciously perceived ongoing fear or threat.

Whilst under a threat, the human's flight or fight response alters normal body functions to improve its ability to survive a threat. These changes include the tensioning of muscles around the trunk and spine providing improved protection of vital organs from a physical threat.

However, this useful reaction to a physical threat is also triggered under perceived threats that are not physical in nature.

If these perceived fear or threat is ongoing, which is often the case if perceived from within the unconscious, Chronic Bracing will be one of the consequences.
